To gain direct admission to Flinders University, you must meet our required Academic and English proficiency requirements.
Academic Entry Requirements
To gain direct general admission to an undergraduate course at Flinders, you must have successfully completed a recognised Secondary Education qualification and satisfy our English language proficiency requirements.
Applicants who do not meet our Academic or English language requirements and need to improve their proficiency can do so through our approved pathway providers.
To enrol as a student at Flinders University in a postgraduate course, you must meet the specified academic entry requirements, as well as the English language proficiency. This relates to the following levels of study:
- Graduate Certificates, Graduate Diplomas and Masters Programs
- Masters by research
- Doctorate degrees
- Doctor of Philosophy
English language entry requirements
International students must satisfy our English language proficiency requirements for admission. For applicants whose first language is not English they will need to have:
- Achieved the required level for the course you are applying for. The scores to meet the various levels are shown below; or
- Successful completion of an approved secondary or tertiary qualification, taught in the English language in a country where English is the official language or the main language spoken (for up to an overall IELTS of 6.5) with evidence no more than five years old on the proposed date of commencement of the course; or
- Successfully completed a pre-course English program from an approved ELICOS Provider.
Other evidence of English language proficiency may be accepted.
Evidence of English language proficiency must be no more than two years old on the proposed date of commencement of the course.
Gaokao entry requirements
Flinders welcomes applications from students who have completed the Gaokao. On meeting the required Gaokao score, students should also satisfy any course prerequisites and must meet the English language requirements of each individual course.
ATAR entry requirements
Students who have completed their secondary schooling in Australia and have been granted an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) can apply for most Flinders University undergraduate courses. Some courses may have additional entry requirements, such as prerequisite subjects or knowledge in a particular area and meet the English language requirements of each individual course.
